Vampires are everywhere. Literally everywhere. No matter what kind of medium we’re talking about, they are inescapable. They’re in films, tv shows, comics and novels. It would now seem they are also in a play.
Entitled “Vitomori”, the story centres around a vain social media obsessed vampire, who gets a little too carried away and sucks the blood of one person too many, resulting in a couple of would-be vampire hunters going after him.
I was asked by the play’s producer Lucy Ahmed, of the Tobacco Tea Theatre Company if I would do some promo shots, and some stills of them in rehearsal before their run at the Alma Tavern in Bristol.
I really didn’t know what to expect of the space, so I made sure I was prepared for any eventuality. I set up a flash gun with a soft box on 1/4 power and stuck on my Tamron 70-300 f 4.0 – 5.6VC and tried to stay as mobile as possible.
As the room was so dark, the flash gun was invaluable, but as much as I like using the 70-300, I kept going back to my Tamron 24-70, which is just so crisp and clean even when shooting at f2.8. There were some shots which I really wanted on that lens (as the image below shows).
It’s a fantastic production, but if you missed it, you can check out the photos from the rehearsal on my Flickr page
Also, it turns out that Costa (the actor in the second picture) couldn’t make coffee. The irony.
