For April I thought I would do something a little bit different, setting myself a challenge I suppose and show you what I get up to week to week for 4 weeks.
Just to be clear, THIS IS NOT A VLOG.
Each video is a 60 second round up of the week. Well the previous week. For the unabridged version, read on.
I kicked off the week by heading to Highclere Castle for the latest shoot producing content for Lady Carnarvon’s own blog. We went off down to the farm to see all the lambs that had been born in the last 12 hours. I was amazed to learn that another 1800 yews were going to be born in the next 12 hours.
After the farm we went to the stables to shoot a video for their Horse Feeds brand meeting some very handsome race horses. Plus a video all about nutrition and keeping horses healthy.
Then we climbed all the way to the top of the tower to see some of the repairs that are going on (Iron is rusting away after 300 years sadly).
After climbing back down we went to a room which the public aren’t allowed in to shoot a video about the old kitchens. What is amazing is that they still had lots of utensils from the late 1800’s!
As much as I love editing, I much prefer being out on location filming.
Getting all the footage organised into a project and setting it up in order of videos to be delivered is unbelievably helpful to future me. (You’re welcome)
Once I’ve sorted that I moved onto 3 videos for another client to be shown during a meeting to get final approval.
There is always a bit of fluctuation in the week as meetings are booked or cancelled and that relies on me being flexible enough with my work to adapt to those conditions when they happen.
I won’t bore you with any more editing talk, suffice to say I spent a lot of time editing.
Something which I don’t do very often but hopefully will do in the future (and this is a shameless plug) is photography. Specifically portrait & commercial photography.
I’ve been working with two shows which are appearing at The Swindon Fringe Festival. The Door Written & Directed by Alex Secker and The Accidental Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Written by Christoper Cutting and Directed by Anna Marshall. Both plays feature talented casts and it was great to be able to capture the plays as they happen. I also managed to squeeze in time to get some headshots of the cast in character which was excellent.
Its been an exceptionally busy week and I love being this busy but also I’m doing so many different things I don’t become bored. I get bored if I’m editing all day everyday (I don’t get bored on shoots, I don’t have time to get bored!) so jumping between video production and photography is a welcome change of pace.
Here are some of the shots from the shoots I’ve been doing over the last week:
