In the beginning I had a little 600D and it was a kind and sweet soul who started me on a journey of filming and photography joy. Like everyone else I had the kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 (still own that dusty old thing) and with a 10 year old Velbon tripod I started my journey.
Now I’m older (won’t say wiser) and the toys have got more expensive and the end of the road for that little 600D is here. To take its place as my B Camera is the 7D Mark II. If you’ve not read my previous posts, now is a good time to do that.
A good 6 years worth of tech has happened since the 600D and it’s still used widely (Simon Cade at DSLR Guide swears by his) but I’m moving on. It’s not a breakup, just a very fond farewell.
The main issue with a crop sensor over full frame is the low light performance. So I took my two crop sensors and went all out on the ISO tests. Same lens, same settings just adjusted for the different ISO.
I think what surprised me is how well the 600D copes but the colour rendition is so much more accurate on the 7D Mark II.
Would I ever use ISO that high on either camera, God no.
So its with a heavy heart I bid farewell to my 600D.
